Kitesurf Instructor and anything else to make ends meet.

6 yrs

 

How did you get into kitesurfing?

Saw it and thought 'that's for me'

 

What where your learning experiences like?

Awesome, painful, inspiring, frustrating, exhilarating - usually all that in the blink of an eye !

 

Why kitesurfing?

See above, and its the culmination of loads of other Sports I'd had a go at.

 

Favorite kitesurfing spots for you (both home and abroad)?

Home I'd pick a favourite as Moricambe bay (Editor - not to be confused with Morecambe Bay!) in the darkest recesses of the Solway Firth cos its all new and exciting. We're just exploring up there at the moment and I think there's loads more potential spots.

 

Abroad - Cow Wreck Bay, Anegada, BVI Because I was learning there and it was sooo perfect.

 

Places you have been kiting at..?

Not very many really, certainly not enough

 

Where would you most like to go kiting?

Back to the BVI on a yacht.

 

What is your most memorable kitesurfing moment?

First time getting up riding out and back without falling until I slammed the beach at 20mph. Hadn't thought about stopping.

 

Who do you admire in the kitesurfing world?

The French guy who just set the 24hr distance record in brazil having swum half of it. He's nails!

 

What does this sport mean to you?

Getting away from it

 

Favourite tricks?

Standing up

 

How do your family feel about you kitesurfing all the time? I

ts a fine balance or a knife edge depending on who you ask. Really they’re very supportive

 

When your not kitesurfing what other things do you do?

Keep the family happy and some work.

 

Have you ever been in an accident (kite related preferably)?

 

What music are you listening too at the moment?

Radio 1 in a vain attempt to stay young.

 

What is your favourite food?

Too hard as there is so much to go at. I like food.
