Sponsors for the trip
We have a number of sponsors for the trip who are assisting us in various ways. I've broken the sponsors down into 3 areas:- Equipment, Financial and Logistics support.
Equipment support has been provided by several manufacturers of equipment, without which the trip could not go ahead. Credit goes to the guys who lobbied the manufacturers and thanks to the manufacturers for supporting us. In particular Pat Holmes from UKAirsports who has spent a lot of time negiotiating the provision of key equipment and getting it to us.
Financial support has been provided by several local companies in terms of hard cash to allow us to pay for fuel for the boats, transportation, equipment, and other logistics costs. Thanks to Gravitron , Brokk UK, Focus Scaffold, Steve's Paints, Stobbart's, Nuvia, Boulting's and DBD Nuclear. DBD Nuclear gave additional funding to assist in the provision of the Papillion Charters rescue boat that we had to charter out of the Isle of Man at the last minute in order to allow the trip to happen.for supporting us in what are very difficult times for businesses.
Logistical support was the boat and rescue support we needed for the trip. We were supported by Cumbrian Sea Fisheries, South Down Coastguard team, Papillion Charters from the Isle of Man and Maryport Inshore Rescue. We must say a big thank you to the crews of these boats as the conditions were pretty nasty. We couldn't have done it without you. You were all top class professionals all the way.
Filming was carried out by Jonny Wright of Wright Walker Productions and Tim Green from Fluid Productions. Professional photography was by Stuart Holmes from Lakes Panoramas. Thanks to these guys for taking a lot of time out from their schedules and family to give us their time for free. They were as dedicated as we were and again totally professional throughout the planning stages and during the crossing itself. Thank you for allowing us to keep such a detailed record of the story. It will give us some great memories in the future I am sure.
Chris Jones Gyroplanes and Gordie Oliver from Air Ventures Paragliding School provided aerial support to the filming and photography. Again thanks to these guys for taking time out to support this project.
We also have assistance from some of the local kiters who we are very grateful for the help.
We also have support from our families who tolerate our disappearing to kite and go to meeting for the past 2 years!!
